Works with public links only. We never store the videos you download — links are resolved on demand.

iOS doesn't let apps save Instagram Reels directly, and there's no download button in Instagram — but you can still save any public reel to your iPhone in seconds, straight from Safari, with no app and no watermark. Here's exactly how, including where the file lands and how to get it into your camera roll.

Download a reel on iPhone (3 steps)

  1. Copy the reel link. In Instagram, tap the paper-plane/share icon under the reel and choose Copy link.
  2. Open ReelsDownloader in Safari. Go to reelsdownloader.in, paste the link, and it detects the video automatically.
  3. Tap download. Choose your quality — the original file downloads with no watermark.

Where the download goes on iPhone

iOS saves downloaded files to the Files app → Downloads by default (tap the little download arrow in Safari's toolbar to see it). To move a reel into your Photos camera roll:

  1. Open the Files app → Downloads.
  2. Tap the video to open it.
  3. Tap the Share icon → Save Video.

It now appears in Photos, ready to repost or edit.

Save straight to Photos (faster)

For many reels you can skip Files entirely: after tapping download, if the video opens in a new tab, long-press the video → Save to Photos, or tap the on-screen share icon → Save Video. Either way, no watermark is added.

Downloading reel photos and carousels

If the post is a photo or a multi-image carousel, ReelsDownloader lists each image separately so you can save the full-resolution originals (not the compressed previews Instagram shows inline). Tap each one, or save the whole set.

Audio-only (save a reel's sound as MP3)

Want just the music or voiceover? ReelsDownloader can extract audio-only — pick the MP3/audio option and it saves the sound without the video.

Troubleshooting on iPhone

  • "Nothing downloads." Make sure the post is public — private accounts can't be fetched. Test by opening the link in a Safari Private tab; if it loads without logging in, it will download.
  • "It opened a tab instead of saving." Use the share icon in that tab → Save to Files or Save Video.
  • "I copied the wrong link." Use the reel's Share → Copy link, not the profile URL.

A note on responsible use

Only download reels you own, have permission to use, or that are free to reuse, and credit creators — follow Instagram's terms. If a public link still won't download, contact us and we'll take a look.

Frequently asked questions

Where do downloaded reels go on iPhone?

By default they save to the Files app (Downloads folder). Open the file in Files and tap Share → Save Video to move it into your Photos camera roll.

Do I need an app to download reels on iPhone?

No. ReelsDownloader runs in Safari — paste the reel link and download. No App Store app, no login, no watermark.

Why does the download open in a new tab instead of saving?

That's iOS's default for some file types. Tap the download/share icon in that tab and choose Save to Files or Save Video, or long-press the video and pick Save.

Can I download reels on iPhone without jailbreak or a shortcut?

Yes. No jailbreak and no Shortcut needed — the whole thing works in the browser.
