ReelsDownloader is built by MobileByteSensei, a small independent studio. We ship mobile and web products across Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose, Astro and Supabase, and we work in the open about how they are built.

How we work

Small team, shipped work over process. Whoever picks up a problem owns it end to end — the schema, the implementation, the deploy, and what happens when it breaks at two in the morning. There is no separate team you hand things to, which is a better arrangement than it sounds: it is the fastest way to learn how a system actually behaves, and the most reliable cure for building something technically correct and practically useless.

We care a lot about verification. A change is not done when it compiles; it is done when it has been observed working on the thing it was supposed to fix. That habit shapes the codebase — gates, canaries, and device checks are ordinary here rather than ceremonial.

What we look for

• You verify before you claim. "It should work" is not a status report.
• You can hold a whole system in your head — client, server, and the seam between them — rather than only the layer you were assigned.
• You write clearly. Most engineering disagreements are really about an unstated assumption, and the person who can write it down plainly usually resolves it.
• You care about the person on the other end. Most of our users are on a mid-range Android phone on a slow connection. Anything that ignores that is not finished.

Formal credentials matter less to us than a thing you built and can explain. We would rather read a repository than a CV.
