Instagram Highlights Downloader
A Highlight is a Story its creator decided to keep. Once pinned to a profile it moves off the twenty-four-hour clock and onto a permanent endpoint, which makes Highlights the one part of Instagram's Story system you can come back to later. Paste a link to a public profile's Highlight and ReelsDownloader resolves the items inside it — photos and video clips alike — at the quality Instagram stored them.

A Highlight is a Story that escaped the clock
Everything in a Highlight was once an ordinary Story, subject to the same twenty-four-hour expiry. Pinning it to a profile copies it to permanent storage under a separate object with its own identifier. The practical consequence is the opposite of Stories: there is no urgency. A Highlight posted three years ago resolves exactly as well as one pinned this morning, for as long as the creator leaves it up.
The cover is not one of the items
Each Highlight has a circular cover image on the profile, and creators frequently upload a custom graphic for it — a label, an icon, a branded tile. That cover is a distinct object from the Story items inside. A tool that grabs "the Highlight" and returns a single decorative circle has fetched the cover and missed the contents entirely, which is a common and confusing failure.
Ordering and timestamps
Items inside a Highlight retain their original posting order, not the order they were pinned, so a Highlight assembled from several months of Stories plays chronologically. Each item keeps its original capture date internally, which is occasionally useful for working out when something actually happened versus when it was pinned.
Overlays are permanent here too
Because Highlights are saved Stories, every sticker, poll result, music label, countdown, and line of typed text was rendered into the image or video at the moment of posting. There is no underlying clean version. A poll in a Highlight even shows its final result frozen in place — the interactive element is long dead, but its rendered state is part of the file.
Size and resolution
Highlight items follow Story dimensions, around 1080×1920, with photos as JPEGs and videos capped at fifteen seconds each. A Highlight containing forty items is forty separate files, which adds up quickly on a phone. It is worth checking how many items a Highlight holds before saving the lot.
Think about why it was kept
Creators curate Highlights deliberately — they are the parts of an ephemeral feed someone chose to make permanent, often product information, FAQs, or portfolio work. That makes them the most reasonable Story content to save for reference, and no more reasonable than anything else to re-publish as your own.

Instagram Highlights downloader — FAQ
How are Highlights different from Stories?
A Story disappears after twenty-four hours. A Highlight is a Story the creator pinned to their profile, which moves it to permanent storage — so unlike Stories, there is no rush to save one.
Will I get every item in a Highlight?
A Highlight is a sequence of separate items, each with its own file. Resolving it walks the whole set rather than returning only the cover.
Can I download Highlights from a private account?
No. Private profiles are gated behind Instagram's follow approval, and that is not something any third-party tool can or should work around.
Do Highlights expire?
No. Pinning a Story to a profile moves it to permanent storage, so a Highlight stays reachable for as long as the creator leaves it up.
Why did I get a decorative circle instead of the Stories?
That is the Highlight's cover image, a separate object from the items inside it. The contents have to be enumerated rather than taking the cover.
Can I see who viewed a Highlight?
No. Viewer lists are private to the account owner and are not exposed publicly.
